BuiltWith has established itself as a leading tool for identifying the technologies used on any website. Its detailed insights into platforms, frameworks, and tools make it indispensable for developers, marketers, and sales teams alike. But, as versatile as the tool is, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Whether you’re hunting for a more budget-friendly BuiltWith alternative, looking for specific features that the platform doesn’t offer, or just exploring, you have plenty of other options to consider.

In this guide, we’ll explore top ten alternatives to BuiltWith, breaking down each tool's standout features, pricing, and downsides.

Stick around to discover a 100% FREE tool that can amplify the results you get from any go-to-market platform, ensuring you make the most of whichever solution you choose.

How I Chose the Best BuiltWith Alternatives

To determine the best BuiltWith alternative, I focused on user feedback on platforms like Capterra, G2, and TrustRadius, integration capabilities with other CRM platforms, and interface design and overall ease of use. And, of course, my own experience.

Here are the top 10 BuiltWith Alternatives that made the list:

  1. Wappalyzer
  2. SimilarTech
  3. UpLead
  4. Lead411
  5. Seamless.AI
  6. RocketReach
  7. Clearbit
  8. Snov.io
  9. LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  10. Hunter.io

1. Wappalyzer

Wappalyzer is a great alternative to BuiltWith for those seeking similar functionality at a lower price point! It monitors thousands of websites and technologies, compiling lists with the latest information.

The platform provides a comprehensive set of features that deliver technographic insights to enhance lead generation strategies. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Technology lookup, analyzing and displaying the technologies used by a website, including CMS, server software, and analytics tools
  • Technology profiler, allowing users to create profiles of specific websites to track and analyze their technology usage over time
  • Lead Generation, helping users identify potential leads by revealing which companies are using specific technologies, aiding in targeted outreach
  • Website alerts, alerting users of the changes in technology stacks on monitored websites
Source: Wappalyzer

I found Wappalyzer to be an invaluable tool for analyzing web technologies. The onboarding is seamless (or at least it was for me), and I appreciated the clear layout and helpful documentation that made the process easier.

If you’re wandering about the downsides, I do wish for a bit more in-depth analytics and customization options. And while technically it is a more affordable option than BuiltWith, Wappalyzer is still on the pricier side.

Wappalyzer Pricing

  1. Free trial with 50 technological lookups a month
  2. Pro: $2,500/year
  3. Business: $4,500/year
  4. Enterprise: $8,500+/year*

*With each annual plan, you get two months for free

Wappalyzer Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Comprehensive technology detection

  • Friendly user-interface

  • Seamless set up

  • Custom alerts

  • On the pricier side

  • Lack of in-depth analytics and customization options

2. SimilarTech

SimilarTech is a Sales Insight Platform (SIP) for tracking usage analytics and technology adoption in real time. It’s a strong alternative to BuiltWith, especially if you’re seeking enhanced competitive analysis features.

One of its key features is the ability to monitor technology adoption trends across various industries, providing users with a wider view of market dynamics. This functionality allows users to spot emerging technologies and better assess their competitors' tech strategies.

Here are some of the other features I found useful:

  • Market share mapping, offering insight into web usage statistics of Search technologies
  • Competitive intelligence, helping you monitor competition and understand the tech they’re implementing, ways they’re evolving, etc.
  • Market research, enabling you to understand the broader technology market landscape
  • Lead generation, helping you identify potential leads based on technology usage, facilitating targeted outreach efforts

Personally, I loved SimilarTech’s competitive insights, which made it easy for me to analyze tech stacks and market trends. Its intuitive interface made the platform super easy to navigate.

However, SimilarTech’s limited free access and occasional data gaps can be frustrating. Some features also have a slight learning curve and require time to master.

UpLead is a powerful platform that offers access to a verified B2B contact database. It’s a solid alternative if you’re more interested in building accurate prospect lists than analyzing website technologies.

One of UpLead's standout qualities is its commitment to data accuracy. It verifies contacts in real time and offers refunds for incorrect or outdated information. The platform’s interface is intuitive, making navigation effortless even for less experienced teams.

On the flip side, finding specific contact details occasionally turned into a hassle, with the search functionality feeling clunky and not as user-friendly as you'd expect from a platform like this. We also encountered technical issues that interrupted our workflow at crucial points. Fortunately, UpLead’s responsive 24/7 customer support stepped in to resolve problems quickly, which eased some of the frustration.

4. Lead411

Lead411 offers an efficient solution for sales teams needing quick, targeted lead generation. It’s especially useful when tracking specific triggers like company growth, personnel changes, or funding rounds that signal business opportunities.

The platform offers:

  • Real-time email verification, providing access to accurate contact data
  • Industry-specific data filters, helping you focus on leads within your target sectors
  • List building automation, allowing the creation of targeted lead lists with minimal effort
  • Team collaboration tools, making it easier for teams to share and organize lead data across departments

The ability to generate targeted lead lists quickly was a HIGHLIGHT for me with Lead411. The tool was adept at filtering contacts based on precise criteria, which streamlined our sales prospecting. The alerts for key events, like job changes and funding rounds, were timely and gave us a competitive edge in reaching out to potential clients.

On the downside, the platform was occasionally buggy, especially when using the filtering feature. This felt particularly frustrating when I was trying to refine searches, as it sometimes led to inaccurate or incomplete results. Other users have also reported similar issues, proving that this is an ongoing concern when using the platform.

Seamless.AI impressed me with its AI-driven capabilities, delivering contact details with speed and high accuracy. Plus, the platform’s automation features saved us COUNTLESS hours by handling repetitive tasks for our team.

6. RocketReach

RocketReach is a tool I frequently turn to when I need accurate contact information quickly. It’s particularly effective for sales teams looking to scale their outreach efforts.

RocketReach’s ability to provide reliable contact information is a significant benefit. The search capabilities are robust, and the platform handles large data sets efficiently, making it a valuable asset for our outreach efforts.

However, the pricing was a sticking point for me. While I found the entry level price affordable, the costs ramped up as I explored high-tier plans, hitting a monthly fee of $249/month/user. This sentiment isn’t unique—other users have also expressed concerns about the steep cost, especially when similar features are available from more affordable competitors. Here’s what another user had to say:

Clearbit provided a comprehensive data enrichment solution that kept our CRM data fresh and relevant. The ability to uncover new leads through their Prospector tool was also beneficial, particularly when expanding our target audience.

The downsides? Clearbit’s database felt somewhat limited compared to other platforms, which could be a drawback for larger businesses needing broader coverage. The lack of publicly available pricing was also frustrating as it made it difficult to assess the cost-effectiveness of the tool upfront.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator is the gold standard for sales professionals who rely heavily on LinkedIn for prospecting. It’s not just about finding emails—but about leveraging LinkedIn’s network to its fullest.

Here are some of the features I found extremely helpful:

I also appreciated the lead recommendations based on my existing network. The InMail messaging feature allowed me to reach out directly to leads without needing their email addresses, streamlining the outreach process.

However, the platform isn’t without drawbacks. I found the interface to be somewhat clunky, and the learning curve was steeper than expected.

Exporting data also proved to be more cumbersome than it should have been, an issue that other reviewers have also pointed out. Additionally, the platform’s integration capabilities were limited to only a few CRMs, which could be a drawback for businesses relying on more specialized tools.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator Pricing

The ability to perform bulk tasks, such as domain searches, saved time when dealing with large datasets. Integration with our CRM was smooth, and the platform’s API access allowed for further customization.

However, I did find the feature set somewhat limited compared to other platforms. The focus is primarily on email finding and verification, which might not be enough for teams looking for more comprehensive solutions. There were also occasional interface issues, such as slow loading times and minor bugs, which affected the user experience.

Final Thoughts on the Top 10 Builtwith Alternatives

Each of these alternatives to BuiltWith offers unique strengths for your specific business needs. If you're looking for a platform that focuses heavily on data accuracy and lead generation, UpLead and Seamless.AI stand out with their comprehensive databases and real-time updates.

On the other hand, tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator provide robust networking capabilities that go beyond just email finding, offering direct access to a vast professional network.

If your primary concern is budget, Hunter.io is a more affordable option. It offers essential features without the complexity (or cost) of feature-packed platforms, making it ideal for teams that want to keep things simple without sacrificing efficiency.

And for those looking for a blend of enriched data and sales triggers, Lead411 and Clearbit are strong contenders.

But here’s the thing—no matter which tool you choose, enhancing your lead generation process shouldn’t stop there!

In fact, you can take it a step further with a tool I’ve found invaluable—RB2B’s Person-Level Website Visitor Identification tool.

How To Amplify Any Platform and Get More Leads With RB2B

While many of these platforms offer deep insights and robust lead generation capabilities, they often stop short of providing personal-level identification of your website visitors. That’s where RB2B comes in. It offers a Person-Level Website Visitor ID tool that delivers detailed profiles DIRECTLY to your Slack channel in real time. Here’s some of the information it provides:

  • The visitor's name, job title, and company
  • Their linkedIn profile and email address
  • The specific pages they visited on your site

RB2B’s tool is especially powerful because it identifies INDIVIDUAL LEADS rather than just companies. This means you can reach out with confidence, knowing exactly who is interested in what, and tailor your outreach accordingly.

And the best part? RB2B is fully compliant with local regulations, such as the CCPA and CPRA. Since RB2B identifies only U.S.-based traffic, GDPR compliance isn’t required

Another pro → the basic version is free FOREVER, making it a commitment-free addition to your current tech stack.

How To Get Started With RB2B

Getting RB2B’s tool up and running is a breeze:

  1. Register on the RB2B website
  2. Confirm your email address and provide some basic business information
  3. Add the RB2B script to your website’s header
  4. Connect RB2B to your Slack channel and enable alerts to receive real-time lead alerts

RB2B’s basic plan is free, but if you’re looking for more features like advanced filtering, CSV downloads, and additional integrations, you can upgrade to the Pro plan with a 30-day free trial and explore the full capabilities of RB2B.

If you’re serious about maximizing the potential of your lead generation tools, get the RB2B Person-Level Website Visitor ID tool. It complements the alternatives listed above and provides an edge in identifying and converting high-intent leads.
